“Carbon Free” Sales Reps
Pioneering initiative aims at compensating the quantity of CO2 emitted by the sales force
Through a pioneering action, pharmexx Brazil, a company specialized in co-marketing through their teams of sales reps and promoters for the pharmaceutical industry, has carried out PLANT THIS IDEA project. The initiative aims at making the company’s contributors aware of the importance of preserving the planet besides compensating and reducing the emission of CO2 emitted by all sales reps managed by pharmexx Brazil.
Beginning - PLANT THIS IDEA project started with an inventory created by Ecosfera 21 consultancy. “The research was accurate and brought some interesting and innovative data for the pharmaceutical industry. For instance, for every sales rep that uses a car and drives around 70km a day, nine trees need to be planted a year so that the emission of CO2 is neutralized. However, it would be better to use alcohol based fuel, as it already has its emission of CO2 neutralized due to the sugarcane plantation and the reuse of the cane thrash in the production of alcohol.”, says Angélica Leone Rossetti, director of the Social Environmental Action of pharmexx Brazil.
Together with the inventory, speeches about sustainable development have been given to the company’s contributors within the courses offered by pharmexx Brazil , such as Training & Qualification of New Sales Reps, so that everyone becomes aware of the climate problems in our planet. “The appropriate use of energy and water supplies, as well as the importance of recycling have been discussed and debated in order to avoid waste and to diminish the emission of CO2”, explains the director.
Plantation – The plantation of 693 tree seeds by pharmexx Brazil has been done together with the “Forests of the Future” program by SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation, during the rainy season, from November 2007 to March 2008, in the city of Salesópolis, São Paulo, in order to benefit the Tietê River bay.
Throughout this year pharmexx Brazil contributed to LUPA DE OURO award and enabled Grupemef initiative to neutralize the emission of CO2 during the event by planting 35 seeds of trees in the surrounding areas.
“We have worked on the ecological education and involvement of each professional in order to structure an eco-friendly program as well as the participation of our clients. They received, for the first time, a certificate from the sales teams used to show that they sell “Carbon Free” products, what means that every sales rep has their emission of CO2 compensated. As a consequence, we are able to contribute with the preservation of our planet”. concludes Angélica Rossetti.
