Read the main extracts from this interview:
Top Team: How has Zambon behaved towards the mergers?
Wilson Borges: Zambon is a familiar Italian company, running for over 100 years and counts on a product line which, although mature, has shown extraordinary continuous growth capacity over the years.
Top Team: Does this growth also apply in Brazil?
Wilson Borges: in Brazil, the main products, such as Fluimicl, Spidufen, Monuril, Glucoreumin and Ursacol, have grown 30% in CAGR taxes over the last five years. We have also invested in research and development and will have two great products to be launched over the following three years at least. Apart from that, we are entering into several partnerships in Brazil and around the world (we are in sixteen countries) and searching for companies to acquire, mainly in emerging countries, highly prioritising Brazil. Our global strategy is also aimed at geographical expansion. Zambon is in the market to last over time.
Top Team: What are the main changes held under your management?
Wilson Borges: Our management was and has been focused on productivity, mainly in sales. Training is also prioritised and we invest a lot in the creation of a training department which is presently considered as a model to other Zambon affiliates by our head office. So, main changes came in order to enable us to be a strong choice in partnership for big companies when it comes to launching great products in primary care.
Top Team: What is your present top challenge?
Wilson Borges: To make good acquisition and enter into some partnerships so as to double our present revenue up to the end of 2012.
Top Team: Is there any gathering going on?
Wilson Borges: We are going into partnership with a view to bringing four great products and it is about to be created still in 2011. We have an excellent portfolio, however, it is certainly going to be difficult to continue growing due to high taxes in the following years. That's why new businesses are crucial to keep our competitiveness.
