Interview
"We are right now focused on patients, increasing adherence to treatment."

Majored in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of St. Gallen, the Swiss CEO of pharmexx, Reto Flückiger, has already worked at companies like Nielsen and Merck Sharp & Dohme and combines, like no one else, research and pharmaceutical knowledge.
During an exclusive interview to Top Team, the executive, who has recently been to Brazil visiting pharmexx office and attending strategic meetings, said that "the classic sales team keeps on playing an important role" and added: "specialized information on pharmaceutical products obtained from personal conversation with physicians is irreplaceable".
Check out the main parts of the interview:
Top Team: In mature markets, like Europe, do CSOs still have room to grow?
Reto Flückiger: I´m convinced that in the future other channels of information will grow. However, in my opinion, the classic Sales team will keep on playing an important role, despite all the changes, as specialized information on pharmaceutical products obtained from personal conversation with physicians is irreplaceable. One of the reasons is that medicine, for instance, mainly in specialized areas, has become increasingly more complex.
Top Team: Is Brazil strategic to pharmexx?
Reto Flückiger: Pharmexx was founded in 1999, in Germany, one of the three main pharmaceutical markets, and in 2004, we started to expand, firstly in Europe and then in emerging markets, like Brazil and India. Nowadays, we act in 22 countries worldwide. Within this context, Brazil is strategic for pharmexx and Celesio due to their stable and growing economy, especially in health and pharmaceutical industries. As our services are highly appreciated, we will continue to expand our business.
Top Team: What global changes have you recently made at pharmexx?
Reto Flückiger: Pharmexx activities were marked by the integration with Celesio group, aiming to promote synergy and integration. Due to its alliance with Celesio group, pharmexx is now able to expand and to develop new integrated services, such as the ones that focus on patients and on "Health Services Management". Thus, the patient sticking to the treatment means significant improvement.
Top Team: And what will the next changes be?
Reto Flückiger: Our core business is to implement important business processes in marketing and sales, and consequently provide more flexibility to companies in the Health segment. At the moment, we are analyzing our services portfolio and identifying new customers´ needs, aiming to offer innovative solutions and services. As a summary, we are, indeed, answering the following question: where are we heading?
Top Team: To wrap up, do the social media help the CSO? How?
Reto Flückiger: Social communities like LinkedIn and Facebook or Twitter are a perfect way to be in contact with customers, prospects, the media and job applicants. The social networks may, therefore, help improve the image of a company and offer unlimited services possibilities. We are, at the moment, assessing the social networks in order to be used by pharmexx.
