Follow the main parts of the interview:
Top Team: How big is the Brazilian market concerning hormone therapy? What is it like?
Laurena Magnoni: The hormone therapy market is divided into men and women´s health. When it comes to women´s health, there are two possible markets: estrogen, which moves around R$ 67,5 million and oral contraceptives, around R$ 64 million. As a whole, we have a market share of R$ 131 million. The men´s hormone replacement market, on the other hand, is the fifth ranked worldwide, led by the USA, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Top Team: Which is the latest news?
Laurena Magnoni: Last year, we launched the Oestrogel for female hormone replacement. As it is a gel, the product helps correct the estrogen deficiency. This year, we will launch the Androgel, which focus on male hormone replacement. As it is easy to use, the product, which is gel testosterone, may be safely applied by the patient. Today, most patients use the injectable solution.
Top Team: Which innovations might be presented in the years to come?
Laurena Magnoni: We will launch the new Androgel with higher concentration and less gel.
Top Team: Why has the world headquarters of Besins Healthcare moved from Brussels, Belgium, to Bangkok, Thailand? Any specific reason? How does it affect the Brazilian market?
Laurena Magnoni: The worldwide leading company in the hormone replacement therapy still has an office in France and one in Belgium. They moved aiming to being closer to the Asian market. It does not interfere in the Brazilian market, though. All the products that come to Brazil are from Belgium.
Top Team: What does Besins Healthcare expect for Brazil?
Laurena Magnoni: The company intends to grow around 39% in 2015 after the launch of the new Androgel. Brazil is a strategic country for the company. Globally, we have grown two digits every year, always focused on global leadership within the hormone replacement therapy market for both women and men.
Top Team: What are the challenges in Brazil to be faced by Besins Healthcare?
Laurena Magnoni: The current Brazilian economy. We believe that it is a bad moment to be forgotten, however a challenge to overcome.
