The sales reps and their promotional materials, souvenirs and samples can be considered highly interactive audiovisual media.
What can we do to make it even more creative so that its efficacy can be increased?
Does creativity come up with it or is it possible to develop it?
Thomas Edson made the following quote become famous when he was asked how he invented the lightbulb: “Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.”
We can understand better the meaning of this quote by interpreting it according to Noam Chomsky´s theory, who stated that there is a level that precedes the creativity: the competence or knowledge level.
According to Chomsky, only after mastering the knowledge level we are able to access and release the creativity level. We can also state that it is only possible to create something as long as we know it, except for the insight moments. If you disagree, answer the following question: “ Would you be capable of writing a small poem in Mandarin?

The great contribution to our thought is that creativity becomes a controlled variable: the more we dedicate ourselves to a subject or the more we study, the more creative we will become and therefore we will diminish the impact of creativity as an independent variable where people are labeled as more or less creative since they are born.
As a consequence, it is clear that by delivering results soon we will have banished from sales reps teams trainings all the primary basis which could be a support to release all the creative potential which will generate a great differential in field: the time dedicated to the study of promotional figures with graphics, tables, comparisons and results.
Then, the more the sales rep gets to know about his product, his territory, his competitor, his medical panel, and the promotional stuff he will work with, the more he will have conditions to access and release his creativity by promoting personal interactivity in each medical detailing, which will generate better results.
Therefore, it becomes clear that periodical and constant trainings do not mean waste of time but the basis over which we can build up a positive answer to the question risen in the headline of this article!
