FIVE TOPICS

Top Team proposed five topics to an industry pofessional, who briefly talks about them. Our guest this time is Fábio Luis Ikuno, the coordinator of technical services at Basf. The company has launched Ludiflash, a new pharmaceutical excipient that improves the quality of disintegrating tablets. Follow it below:

Top Team: Ludiflash differentiation

Fábio Luis Ikuno:
It is not only the patient who sees the benefits of Ludiflash. Pharmaceutical manufacturers also benefit from the new excipient, by saving them time and money. Tablets containing Ludiflash can be compressed directly on their existing standard tablet machines. Ludiflash’s individual ingredients and special formulation ensure that the tablets are mechanically stable. They are also very compact and friability is minimal. As the tablets are not brittle, they are easy to transport and package. Even the compression speed during production does not affect the hardness of tablets containing Ludiflash. Ludiflash ensures that tablets disintegrate in the mouth immediately, even without water, thus allwoing patients to take tablets more easily and discreetly by melting in the mouth giving a soft, creamy feel.

Top Team: Ludiflash and the cost for the manufacturers

Fábio Luis Ikuno: Manufacturers gain the benefits of high-speed, low-cost production on standard tableting machines. The tablets can be filled in standard commercial blister packs or PE containers. At the same time, the new pharmaceutical excipient ensures that the active ingredients are released quickly, providing a fast result for patients.

Top Team: Basf new tablets disintegrants

Fábio Luis Ikuno: Besides Ludiflash, BASF has unveiled new pharmaceutical auxiliaries which release active ingredients more quickly, particularly when it comes to small tablets, with Kollidon CL- and Kollidon CL-SF.

Top Team: demand for highly potent actives

Fábio Luis Ikuno: We have seen a search for smaller tablets by means of more modern and potent actives.

Top Team: Basf news for 2008

Fábio Luis Ikuno: It has already been four years that Basf Chemicals keeps on launching at least one product a year and we intend to keep such pace. We have increasingly searched for new solutions to help and facilitate our customer’s lives thus contributing to a better future.
