“The leader must like people to be effective”

 

According to a survey done last year by SEC Human Talents, it was shown that the biggest challenge for a leader of a company is to motivate employees. For the consultant Paulo Araújo, this result is not amazing. “Most leaders are not ready for this position. They used to be good technicians, to reach good results and were soon given the role of a leader. A leader must like people to be effective, must try to understand the human nature and adopt good management practices”, explains Araújo.

Invited by Top Team, the consultant gave some hints to become a good leader and have a good relationship with the other employees:

 

- Be humble and try to learn how to deal with people;

 

- Make a great effort to truly know every single member of your team - their personal goals, professional ambitions in the company, their strength;

 

- Take care of the work environment and create a good organizational atmosphere;
