How to make your meetings more effective

Is it possible to make meetings more effective and productive in order to prevent boredom and disinterest? The MBA professor of Project Management, at FGV, Fernando Henrique da Silveira Neto, says this is possible and explains, during an exclusive interview to Top Team, that two factors are essential: careful planning and strict command.
“Meetings without a schedule prepared beforehand approaching the topics to be discussed, without starting and ending hours and without a leader mean problems. A good planning is absolutely necessary.”, adds Silveira Neto, author of books like “Gain with Planned Time: Your Day Can Be Longer” and “Another Meeting?”.
The professor adds: “during the meeting is fundamental a leading attitude aiming results. So, being strict is important, but do not be rude or groce”.
But, is longlasting meeting the same as productivity? Silveira Neto says it isn´t. Time restriction increases objectivity and the participants´ discipline. “Productivity in meetings means using just the time and effort needed to reach the expected results. Longlasting meetings are the best solution when you don´t intend to reach results and productivity. Besides, who can get six or eight participants to be aware and cooperative for four or five hours in a row?”.
