According to research, seven out of ten workers suffer from stress due to facts like violence, the unknown future and lack of time. When interviewed by Top Team, Ana Maria Rossi, the president of the International Stress Management Association (ISMA-BR), highlighted that stress must be managed. Stress can be defined as any situtation that requires one’s adaptation. We all need a small percentage of adrenaline. It is like a propulsive power that enables us finish a project within a deadline. What actually happens is that the stress level is too high’, she analyses.
In order to control stress, Ana Maria suggests that the executives must have a healthier life and practice at least one relaxing activity such as yoga, meditation and tai chi. ‘There are no recipes but people must be aware of their limits by balancing time dedicated to work, to leisure, family, social activities and rest’, she observes.
The head of the International Stress Management Association adds that stress can even cause serious health problems. ‘Too much tension, commitments and responsabilities increase the probability of developing cardiovacular and gastrointestinal problems, insomnia, and muscular pain. It also increases the incidence of depression, anxiety and humor instability”, she concludes.
