In this edition, Top Team proposed five topics to a pharmaceutical industry professional, who briefly talks about them. Our guest this time is Mário Grieco, president of Bristol-Myers Squibb. “A good leader for this kind of market must be a strategist”, says Grieco. Check it out:
Top Team: Your greatest motivation
Mário Grieco: When I graduated, I aimed at working with treatment and cure for patients with serious illnesses, like cancer. It is still my greatest motivation as I keep the same goal as BMS, to improve the human life so that it lasts longer.
Top Team: A good leader in the pharmaceutical segment.
Mário Grieco: A good leader in this market must be a strategist, flexible, with an holistic approach and seek for alternatives, innovative solutions and be open minded. Every good leader must also be concerned with the human capital, as it can make a real difference when reaching consistent and comprehensive results.
Top Team: Your position as president at Bristol
Mário Grieco: I believe that we have done a great job within this period. The best example is that we were able to revert a sequence of negative results to positive and growing results year after year. Today, the Brazilian subsidiary of Bristol-Myers Squibb started to stand out again in Latin America and Canada, regions where it works.
Top Team: Next changes at Bristol
Mário Grieco: There are always things to be improved and sharpened, not only as a company but also as professionals and human beings. At BMS, we have promoted a real cultural transformation but reverting the financial status of the company. We have worked better with our quality of living programs.
Top Team: Expectancy for the pharmaceutical market.
Mário Grieco: I am very confident. We got Anvisa´s permission to offer a new option for rheumatoid arthritis treatment, one of the most weakening diseases at the moment.
